Katharina Kreitz is a pioneer in the technology scene. It has conquered the international market with its revolutionary high-tech products. Your company Vectoflow produces unique flow probes made of metal, precisely fitting from the 3D printer. Their customers include international companies such as Formula 1, NASA, Airbus and BMW. Within a very short time, her start-up developed into a successful company. Vectoflow is now worth 25 million euros and is expanding. As a woman, she is still an exception in the industry. The young entrepreneur believes that this has to change.

For her, math and girls are not a contradiction. That’s why she tours schools and passes on her enthusiasm for the subject to young women. Her mother saw her with pink bows in her hair and doing ballet. But Katharina preferred playing with Lego and dreamed of becoming an astronaut. After graduating from high school, it was clear: Katharina wanted to study mechanical engineering at the Technical University of Munich. She quickly realizes that sitting in the lecture hall and listening is not her strength. She is drawn to practice, to the test benches at Airbus, NASA or BMW, where she came up with the idea to start a business at the age of 27 – out of frustration with the measurement technology, which she found to be too imprecise and prone to errors. Together with her co-founder, she develops high-quality flow probes made of metal, individually and delicately manufactured using a 3D printer, which are not yet available on the market. A 3D printing manufacturer believes the idea is not feasible. Nevertheless, Katharina sticks to her plan. In order to raise the necessary capital and get a start-up grant, the team must demonstrate business expertise. To do this, she becomes a “business administration trulla” herself, as Katharina says, and completes a postgraduate course in business administration. While her fellow students start working for large companies after graduating and earn a lot of money, she sticks to her founding idea. Money is not the focus for Katharina. She wants to bring “her baby” to the start.

Together with two colleagues, she founded Vectoflow in 2015 and began to revolutionize the world of flow measurement technology. The first successes don’t take long to arrive: the young company receives an inquiry from Formula 1 via its self-designed website. The first deal is in place and it doesn’t take long until the company generates remarkable profits without large investors.

In 2018 there was a serious setback: a co-founder left. Shortly afterwards, Katharina’s boyfriend breaks up with her. Everything seems to be collapsing. Katharina works a lot and hardly sleeps. She suffers severe brain injuries in a skiing accident. The doctors’ prognosis is bleak: if she survives, she will have permanent damage and mental disability. But Katharina fights her way back to life.
