Spotify is preparing to launch a new AI-powered feature for podcasts. To summarize, artificial intelligence will be used to instantly translate a podcaster’s words into other languages using their own voice.
While Spotify has just launched Daylist, a playlist that adapts to your mood according to the flow of the day, the music streaming service has just announced the arrival ofa new AI-boosted feature.

Spotify launches into AI-assisted podcast translation
The idea? “Match the style of the original speaker, thus providing a more authentic, more personal and more natural listening experience than traditional dubbing”. Thus, a podcast episode initially recorded in English may be available in other languages, while maintaining the speaker’s distinctive tone, style, and vocal characteristics.
As part of this pilot project, Spotify says it has worked with renowned podcasters like Dax Shepard, Monica Padman, Lex Fridman, Bill Simmons and Steven Bartlett to generate voice translations in Spanish, French and German notably. “By matching the voice of the creator, Voice Translation gives listeners around the world the power to discover and be inspired by new podcasters in a more authentic way than ever before”said Ziad Sultan, vice president of personalization at Spotify.

According to the company, the first translated episodes will be available from the pilot creators for paid and free users. As said above, these episodes will be available in Spanish, French and German in the coming days and weeks.
