Due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, Niantic announced the withdrawal of Pokémon Go in Russia, along with other games from the studio.

Like other publishers, it’s Niantic’s turn to take a stand against the war between Russia and Ukraine. Indeed, after Microsoft, Nintendo or Electronic Arts, the publisher has just announced the withdrawal of its Pokémon Go game in Russia.

Niantic therefore claims:

We stand with the global community hoping for peace and a speedy resolution to the violence and suffering in Ukraine. Niantic games are no longer available for download in Russia and Belarus, and gameplay will also be suspended very soon.

Pikmin Bloom and Ingress are also removed from the market. Beyond not being able to download the game anymore, players who already have it will therefore no longer be able to access it at all. Until then, the game was available for free on all mobile platforms. It’s a unprecedented sanction announced by Niantic to denounce the war between Russia and Ukraine.
