Pokémon Scarlet and Violet: Leaks are already invading the web!

In just over 120 days will come out the ninth generation pocket monsters with Pokémon Scarlet and Purple. Still very mysterious, we have however received a lot of information about him such as the starters, the two teachers in the region, the legendary Koraidon and Miraidon or even new creatures like Olivine, Pohm and Lechonk. But, as always, Internet users seem to have a field day flooding the web with a few leaks and other fakes.

Many leaks are circulating: should we believe them?

Regional form of Tauros, types of arena master Pokémon or even visuals of some new creatures…
It is difficult to miss these “leaks” when one is closely interested in the ninth generation. Whether on Twitter, Reddit, Google or YouTube, Everybody talks about it but whether or not this is true remains to be seen. Obviously, this isn’t the first time games in the Pokémon franchise have been subject to data leaks, but usually it happens a few weeks before the game’s release, when copies are circulating. This time, the leaks appear to be coming directly from people working closely with the developers, and most of the information is corroborated by Riddler Khu, a reputable Pokemon leaker.

That doesn’t mean you have to believe everything you see on the web right now. Stay vigilant and make sure to make the difference between a leak (something truthful that is revealed without the consent of the developers) and a fake (a fake leak created from scratch to create buzz).

How to protect yourself from leaks?

It gets more and more complicated. Even if you try to go on a social media strike, the media may relay the information and you may come across it by chance. The best way to protect yourself on Twitter is to ban certain keywords :

  1. On Twitter, click on the “More” option and then on “Settings and privacy”
  2. Go to the “Privacy and security” tab and then click on “Hide and block”
  3. Now click on “Hidden words” to define the list of words you no longer want to see. You can for example put “pokemon”, “scarlet” “scarlet” “purple” “9g” by pressing the “+” at the top right. It is possible to define the duration of this rule.

Either way, we at MGG will never share any Pokémon Scarlet and Purple leaks, only official information shared by Nintendo, TPCI, and Game Freak.
