US police have announced that they have found a possible fifth victim of a murderer nicknamed the “supermarket cart killer”, arrested in mid-December in Virginia.
New victims to the “shopping cart killer” list. Authorities in Virginia released the names of two women believed to have been murdered by the killer on Friday, becoming his third and fourth victim. It could also be linked to a fifth murder, reports NBC News. The two victims were identified using their DNA. They are Cheyenne Brown, 29, from Washington, and Stephanie Harrison, 48, from Redding, Calif. Their corpses were discovered in a container near the Moon Inn hotel in Alexandria, Va. On December 15.
A supermarket shopping cart was next door, earning the murderer’s nickname. Anthony Eugene Robinson, 35, is the prime suspect in the case. “He was the last person to see Cheyenne alive,” said Fairfax Police Chief Kevin Davis. He has so far not been charged with the two crimes, although police expect it to be done soon. He is already on trial for the murders of two other women, Allene Elizabeth “Beth” Redmon, 54, and Tonita Laurice Smith, 39.
Their bodies were discovered in a shopping area in Harrisonburg, Va. On November 23. “He transported the bodies of these women in a supermarket cart,” commented Kevin Davis. Investigators working on the Harrisonburg case said CCTV footage and cell phone data placed the suspect with Allene Redmon and Tonia Smith before their deaths.
The fifth victim found in September
In mid-December, the police chief explained that the man had met his victims on dating sites and that he then went to see them in motels: “After inflicting trauma on his victims and having killed them, he carries their bodies to their final resting place, literally, in a shopping cart. And there is a video that shows it ”.
The fifth victim, identified as Sonya Champ, was linked to the killer by police through “critical information” sent to officers. “This deceased woman was in a wagon hidden by a simple blanket. We believe she is Anthony Eugene Robinson’s fifth victim, ”Constable Ed O’Carroll said on Friday. His body was discovered last September, in Washington, where the accused was at the time. Investigators are urging anyone with information about Robinson to come forward, including anyone who may have been in contact with him.
