Poorly rated in the 2000s, this saga is making a comeback in 2024 with a delightful trailer

Garfield the cat will soon be back in theaters with an animated film. Chris Pratt lends his voice to the ginger cat while Samuel L. Jackson dubs his father.

Stash the lasagna! The laziest and greediest cat is back in the cinema! 19 years after Garfield, the film (rated 1.8/5 by AlloCiné spectators) and its sequel Garfield 2, released in 2007, which mixed animation and live action, the red cat is back in the cinema in a 100% film animated.

Directed by Mark Dindal, director of Chicken Little and Kuzco, the Megalomaniac Emperor, the feature film returns to the meeting between Garfield and Jon when the feline was still just a kitten. If the dog Odie is obviously there, Garfield: Hero in Spite will allow us to discover the hero’s father!

On the original voice side, Chris Pratt, recently in the voice casting of Super Mario Bros, voices Garfield while Samuel L. Jackson lends his voice to Vic, his big cat father.

First published in 1978 in the form of comic strip in 41 newspapers, the adventures of this cynical cat were then adapted for the small and big screen. The previous films released in 2004 and 2007 had totaled $346 million at the international box office and brought 2.5 million spectators to French theaters.

Garfield: hero in spite of himself will be released in theaters on July 17, 2024.
