Even though he had been interested in art since his youth, it took Thomas Häusle to turn his passion into a career. Having grown up in an entrepreneurial family, he completed a degree in economics. After his father died in an accident all too early, in 1987 he joined the management of Hubert Häusle GmbH&CoKG, the leading waste disposal company in the region. “Sustainability was a core issue in our industry, even before it became common knowledge,” says the native of Dornbirn, who remained active as managing director after the sale of the company and, among other things, took part in the 2002 “World Summit” for sustainable development in Johannesburg.
