  • The former student of a Zurich high school started an unusual poster campaign at Zurich main station.

  • The 17-year-old claims that as an unvaccinated person he could no longer endure the discrimination at his school.

  • With the posters at Zurich’s main train station, he would now like to find an apprenticeship position.

A 17-year-old high school student is currently attracting attention with an unusual poster campaign at Zurich main station. As an “unvaccinated high school student” he is looking for an apprenticeship. “I decided to take this step because, as a healthy and unvaccinated person at the grammar school, I do not want to be discriminated against any further,” it says on the posters that have been hanging on HB since this week.

Compared to the “Blick”, the pupil stated that he could no longer bear the feeling of being different and the exclusion at his school. He belongs to a minority of only about 10 percent unvaccinated at his Gymi. Although he still had two and a half years to graduate, he would have made this decision. He intends to switch to the private sector and look for an apprenticeship as an EFZ businessman. “I hope that I won’t be under so much pressure anymore,” says the student. In the Swiss population, the proportion of unvaccinated people is 25 percent, much higher than at his school.

Father paid for posters

The 17-year-old continued to pay for the two posters that should now hang at the train station for a week. “I don’t know how much it cost,” he says. In any case, his father shares his convictions. A number of comments have already been received on his action. In the reactions, “expressions of sympathy” and “hate comments” are roughly balanced, as the high school student explains.

“I’m sure not going back to high school any more”

Meanwhile, no job offers have been received. He states his qualifications on the posters as follows: “Very good at math, German and English.” In addition, he is used to working from his father’s construction company, where he tackled it at an early age. “Give me a chance and I will convince you,” it continues.

Returning to high school is not an option for the student from Lake Zurich. “I will definitely not go back to high school,” emphasizes the 17-year-old.
