A new documentary about the murder of John Lennon reveals previously unknown details. Hollywood star Kiefer Sutherland acts as narrator.

The streaming service Apple TV+ has a new documentary series with never-before-seen footage about the murder of the Beatles legend John Lennon (1940-1980) announced. The three-part documentary entitled “John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial”, which currently has no start date, is narrated in the English original by “24: Twenty Four” and “Don’t Hang Up!” star Kiefer Sutherland (56).

That’s what “John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial” is about

More than 40 years after the terrible crime in front of the Dakota Building in New York City, “John Lennon: Murder Without A Trial” is about the murder of John Lennon. The world star was virtually executed with four shots in the back by his self-proclaimed “fan” Mark David Chapman (68). Chapman has been in prison ever since. A parole sentence is available to the convicted murderer according to Rolling Stone already been denied twelve times.

The now announced documentary series is dedicated to the pop culture phenomenon Lennon in three parts and, according to Apple TV+, contains “exclusive interviews with eyewitnesses and previously unpublished crime scene photos” that shed the gruesome murder on December 8, 1980 in a new light.

Thanks to previously unknown access to official bodies, the documentary makers Nick Holt and Rob Coldstream were able to “view extensive documents from the New York police, the parole board and the public prosecutor’s office,” as the Apple TV+ press release states. In addition, some of “Lennon’s closest friends” were available for interviews and spoke about the events at the time, “some for the first time.” Convicted murderer Mark David Chapman’s “defense attorneys, psychiatrists, investigators and prosecutors” also speak in front of the camera.

The very last Beatles song will be released at the beginning of November

At the same time as the announcement of the Apple documentary, it was announced yesterday (October 26th) that the still living Beatles would release one very last song on November 2nd. The track entitled “Now And Then” features John Lennon’s voice, which was isolated from an old demo version of the musician using artificial intelligence. Paul McCartney (81) and Ringo Starr (83) completed the production of the piece. “We will never get any closer to the feeling of having him in the room with us again,” explained Ringo Starr in a statement about the song’s release.
