Presidential 2022: Emmanuel Macron sees his lead shrink


More than two days before the opening of polling stations for the first round of the presidential election. As the campaign comes to an end, Emmanuel Macron sees his lead shrink with Marine Le Pen, although he retains first place, according to the latest OpinionWay barometer for CNEWS, unveiled this Friday, April 8.

The outgoing president is credited with 25% of the voting intentions, one point less compared to the barometer published yesterday. Marine Le Pen remains stable, with 22% of the vote.

The gap is therefore narrowing a little between the two favorites, who are however closely followed by the candidate of rebellious France, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who grabs one more point and accumulates 17% of the voting intentions in the first round. . He retains his third place, well ahead of all the other candidates, right and left.

Valérie pécresse and éric zemmour at 9%

All the other contenders for the Élysée have fallen below the 10% mark. Valérie Pécresse and Éric Zemmour both remain at 9%, while Yannick Jadot, environmental candidate, is credited with 6% of the vote, one point more than Thursday.

Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, Jean Lassalle and Fabien Roussel are in a pocket handkerchief, all credited with 3% of voting intentions. Anne Hidalgo (2%), Philippe Poutou (1%) and Nathalie Arthaud (0%) bring up the rear.

In the event of a second round between Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen, the outgoing president would win the ballot by 54%, against 46% for the candidate of the National Rally.
