Presidential 2022: Marine Le Pen is progressing, Emmanuel Macron still in the lead

Less than two weeks before the first round of the presidential election, Emmanuel Macron and Marine Le Pen remain the big favorites in the ballot. The OpinionWay barometer for CNEWS for this Monday, March 27, however, indicates that the outgoing president is slightly down, while the candidate of the National Rally continues to progress. Jean-Luc Mélenchon confirms his third position.

Emmanuel Macron remains largely in the lead, with 27% of voting intentions in the first round, one point less than during the last wave of the OpinionWay barometer.

Conversely, the latest survey shows Marine Le Pen up slightly, with 20% of the vote (+1). The gap is gradually decreasing between the two favorites. Jean-Luc Mélenchon remains in third position with 14% of voting intentions, exactly like Thursday, March 24.

Valérie Pécresse steps back

However, the candidate Les Républicains, Valérie Pécresse, suffered a slight drop compared to the last barometer (-1), with 10% of the voting intentions. She is now positioned on an equal footing with Éric Zemmour, Reconquest candidate.

Almost all the other candidates keep the same scores as last week: Yannick Jadot (EELV) at 6%, Fabien Roussel (PCF) at 4%, Anne Hidalgo (PS) and Nicolas Dupont-Aignan (Debout la France) at 2% each, and finally Nathalie Arthaud (LO) and Philippe Poutou (NPA) in last position with 1% of the vote each. Only Jean Lassalle (Resistons) is progressing slightly (+1) and accounts for 3% of voting intentions.

If the second round of the presidential election took place next Sunday, with Emmanuel Macron facing Marine Le Pen, the president would win 56% against 44% for the candidate of the National Rally.

* Barometer carried out on March 26 and 27 on a sample of 1072 people registered on the electoral lists, from a sample of 1134 people, representative of the French population aged 18 and over, by self-administered online questionnaire.
