Mélenchon in the lead in the first round in the majority of the DOM-TOMs

In Overseas France, the participation rate has increased overall. In Guyana, for example, he gained three points compared to April 10.

In the first round, the Popular Union candidate Jean-Luc Mélenchon ended up in third place with 21.95% of the vote nationally. But it was well ahead in the West Indies, exceeding the 50% mark in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana. The electorate of the Insoumis – the largest reserve of votes between the two rounds – was therefore particularly courted by the two finalists.

On April 10, Marine Le Pen had already conquered Mayotte with 42.67% of the vote. Emmanuel Macron, for his part, also arrived first in French Polynesia, New Caledonia and Wallis and Futuna.

In the Dom-Tom, the 2017 duel between Marine Le Pen and Emmanuel Macron in the second round had also been largely won by the candidate En Marche – he had for example accumulated an average of 76% of the votes in the West Indies.
