Presidential 2022: the incredible live experience of Arte on the evening of the second round

On Sunday 24 April, the evening of the second round of the presidential election, the Arte channel will broadcast a one-hour film shot live in the form of a sequence shot to bring the results of the election night to life in a way totally unprecedented.

Never seen. To allow French people who are fed up with traditional channels to follow the result of the second round of the presidential election, Arte has announced that it is setting up a completely new program. Thus, on Sunday April 24, the Franco-German channel will broadcast on its website “Glory Day”, a one-hour film in the form of a single sequence shot shot live. The goal ? The directors Jeanne Frenkel and Cosme Castro will stage four actors, Félix Moati, Julien Campani, Julia Faure and Kamel Abdessadok in a fiction-reality.

Here is the synopsis: the first two will play two brothers whom everything opposes and who find themselves after many years in their native village of Lot-et-Garonne on the evening of the second round of the presidential election. As you will understand, the project will be to bring the result of this long-awaited election live to viewers and actorsin order to have completely unexpected reactions. “The challenge is to have such precise timing that you arrive right in front of the television at that moment. It’s very repetitive, it’s not improvisationsaid co-director Jeanne Frenkel.

“Glory Day” on Arte will be unheard of

She continued: “Even if there is something unforeseen, it will be part of the film. The thing that scares me the most is the weather”. This film, which can be classified in the universe of “metacinema”, is “70% written and will be 85% after the first round”, according to co-producer François Pécheux. “This long sequence shot of more than an hour on the country roads and on the village square will take us to discover the destiny of two brothers, a destiny that will change against the background of the election result”. One thing is certain: we can’t wait to see what it will give.
