Presidential: grimace soup at Éric Zemmour’s HQ

Huge cold snap just after 8 p.m., when the results are displayed on the big screen. Contrary to what supporters of Éric Zemmour hoped for, there was no hidden vote. The Reconquest candidate! comes fourth in the first round of the presidential election with 7.05% of the vote, far behind Jean-Luc Mélenchon, who came third.

In his HQ, the fall is brutal for Dan, 30, who is struggling to hold back his tears. “I am desperate and I tell myself that the France that I love, that of my parents, is dying before my eyes”, he is saddened.

Olivier is more optimistic. This 49-year-old salesperson is convinced that the Reconquête! will see better days. “It’s in the fights that we advance. We are a very young party, this is our first campaign. We have learned a lot. We do not have the expected result but for a party that did not exist three months ago, it’s still very good”, he concedes.

“And this is just the beginning. We can only progress,” added the activist. In the meantime, Éric Zemmour has called for Marine Le Pen to vote for the second round, a message received by most of his supporters.

“I understand it, even if we do not necessarily adhere to all of Marine’s ideas. But here we are, we will rally to Marine”, says Marine, a 35-year-old activist. Activists who are all waiting to have more details on the political future of Éric Zemmour, who had announced that he would be a candidate for the legislative elections in the event of a defeat in the presidential election.
