Presidential: Yannick Jadot passes the milestone of 500 sponsorships

He only needed 10 more referrals and he got them. Yannick Jadot can officially be a presidential candidate. He is the seventh candidate to stand.

The environmental candidate Yannick Jadot has exceeded 500 sponsorships from elected officials. He can officially be a presidential candidate. He is the seventh candidate to reach this symbolic bar after Emmanuel Macron, Valérie Pécresse, Anne Hidalgo, Fabien Roussel, Nathalie Arthaud and Jean Lassalle.

In 2017, the environmental candidate withdrew from the presidential race to support Benoit Hamon. But in 2022, he assures us that he will go all the way, despite voting intentions between 4 and 5.5% in our real-time presidential poll.

Many candidates still fail to snag the 500 signatures. The candidate of rebellious France Jean-Luc Mélenchon is at 442, he should reach 500 by next week. A score which slightly exceeds that of Nicolas Dupont-Aignan, with 422 signatures of elected officials. The candidate of the National Rally Marine Le Pen has 393 sponsorships, Eric Zemmour 350.

Some candidates are much more in difficulty. Anti-capitalist candidate Philippe Poutou has only 224 sponsorships, Christiane Taubira has 104. Animist party candidate Hélène Thouy has only 89.

The next publication of sponsorships from the Constitutional Council will take place on Thursday at 5 p.m.
