Preview: In August "Biohackers" starts a new German series

In August, Netflix delivers "Biohackers", a new German series. And "Lucifer" is up to mischief again on Amazon Prime Video.

Series entertainment is also on offer in August. The next German Netflix series is about to start and there are also supplies from the devil. But these are not the only highlights.

Netflix

The six-part German series "Biohackers" starts on August 20 on Netflix. Mia (Luna Wedler) begins her medical studies at the University of Freiburg and pursues her own secret plan. She wants to win the trust of lecturer and bio-scientist Prof. Tanja Lorenz (Jessica Schwarz), with whom she shares a dark secret. To clarify her brother's death, Mia enters a dangerous world full of illegal gene experiments. When she meets the biology student Jasper (Adrian Julius Tillmann) and his mysterious roommate Niklas (Thomas Prenn), she has to make a difficult choice.

"Dirty John: The Betty Broderick Story" will be released on August 14th. It is the second season of "Dirty John". The eponymous character played Eric Bana (51) in season one, alongside Connie Britton (53, "Nashville"). In the new episodes, the focus is now on the character Betty Broderick, who is embodied by Amanda Peet (48). Christian Slater (50) acts as her husband Dan Broderick. In it, Betty Broderick boils over in the middle of the bitter divorce from her unfaithful husband. The series is based on real events.

Amazon Prime Video

The first season of the Amazon original "Alex Rider" will be available on August 7th. The new spy thriller series is based on the novel "Point Blanc", the second volume of the Alex Rider series by the British writer Anthony Horowitz (65). The British Otto Farrant plays the title character. The teenager has to help investigate the murder after the death of his uncle. To do this, he has to assume a new identity and move to the remote Point Blanc boarding school. There he discovers that the students are at the center of a disturbing plan …

The devil returns with new episodes. The first part of the fifth season "Lucifer" will be available in Germany from August 22nd on Amazon Prime Video. There is more at stake than ever in the new episodes. Secrets are revealed, beloved characters die, and there is an answer to the question: "Will they or will they not?" Tom Ellis (41) alias Lucifer Morningstar and Lauren German (41) alias Detective Chloe Decker are back again.

The second season of the award-winning series "Big Little Lies" celebrates German free TV premieres on August 5, every Wednesday from 10:40 pm in double episodes at VOX. What happens after the turbulent events on the night of the charity event? Will the police find out the secret of Perry (Alexander Skarsgard's) death? Are the "Monterey Five", Celeste (Nicole Kidman), Madeline (Reese Witherspoon), Jane (Shailene Woodley), Bonnie (Zoe Kravitz) and Renata (Laura Dern) tight? Or does Perry's mother Mary Louise, played by Meryl Streep (71), find out?

With "Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists" a spin-off and the sequel to the popular series "Pretty Little Liars" are celebrating their German free TV premiere. The offshoot is about the two well-known characters Alison DiLaurentis (played by Sasha Pieterse) and Mona Vanderwaal (played by Janel Parrish), who ends up in a new city in which a murder is committed. The series was discontinued after the first season. In Germany, the ten episodes will be shown on Sixx from Thursday, August 13, 2020 at 9:15 p.m.

How does it end for Annalize Keating? The brilliant and unscrupulous lawyer and law professor is played in the series "How to Get Away with Murder" by Oscar winner Viola Davis (54). The answers will be available on August 3rd at 8:15 p.m. The series finale with 15 episodes celebrates its German premiere at RTL Crime.

"Ted Lasso" is a new comedy series at AppleTV +. In it, Jason Sudeikis (44, "Kill the Boss") plays the title character. Ted Lasso is a college football coach from Kansas who is supposed to coach a professional football team in England, although he has no experience as a football coach. The first three episodes will be available on August 14, followed by a new episode every Friday.
