No German television station actually waits until the actual end of the year to look back on the past 12 months. On New Year’s Eve, the audience simply doesn’t feel like looking back, so Markus Lanz and Co. will be reviewing the year from the beginning of December.

But when will it happen in 2023? We have summarized all the dates of the 2023 TV reviews for you, so you can decide on a review depending on the date – or the presenter.

RTL will kick things off in 2023 with “2023! People, Images, Emotions”. It will also be emotional for everyone who wants Günther Jauch or Thomas Gottschalk back as presenter, this time Steffen Hallaschka is taking on this part.

  • December 7, 2023, 8:15 p.m.: “2023! People, images, emotions”, RTL
  • December 27, 2023, 8:15 p.m.: “Our 2023 – The Sat.1 annual review with Jörg Pilawa”, Sat.1

Jörg Pilawa apparently has almost three weeks more time on Sat.1 to wait for possible further developments at the end of the year. In fact, the review will be recorded at the end of November, just like Hallaschka, Pilawa also has stars as guests.

Five annual reviews on ZDF

ZDF offers you a large selection of annual reviews. Whether serious or humorous, general or focused on a specific focus, ZDF’s annual reviews are as varied as the year 2023 itself. You can find all the dates here:

  • December 13, 2023, 8:15 p.m.: “Markus Lanz – The Year 2023”, ZDF
  • December 15, 2023, 11:30 p.m.: “The satirical annual review”, ZDF
  • December 17, 2023, 10:15 p.m.: “Sportsman of the Year”, ZDF
  • December 26, 2023, 7:15 p.m.: “Album 2023 – Picture of the Year”, ZDF
  • December 27, 2023, 5:10 p.m.: “The Year of the Stars 2023”, ZDF

All annual reviews are of course also available in the ZDF media library after the broadcast. An annual review of the “heute-show” has not yet been confirmed, so this year is apparently being skipped.

ARD has only planned two annual reviews – and a quiz

ARD’s annual review does not have any big stars. Here the station’s correspondents look back and offer viewers what is probably the most neutral summary of the current year. Fans of Dieter Nuhr will of course also get their money’s worth.

  • December 19, 2023, 10:15 p.m.: “ARD Annual Review”, ARD
  • December 21, 2023, 10:30 p.m.: “Nuhr 2023”, ARD
  • December 30, 2023, 8:15 p.m.: “2023 – The Quiz”, ARD

It is possible that further annual reviews will be announced at short notice, but the selection is already large. If you have already largely forgotten or suppressed the year 2023, you should be up to date again after the 10 confirmed broadcasts.
