Prime Video: one of the best-selling video games in the world soon to be adapted into series?

The Amazon Prime Video platform will adapt the famous video game “God of War” in series.

Does Amazon Prime Video hold its Witcher? The platform has indeed decided to bet on a major video game title, since our colleagues from the Hollywood Reporter announce the start of a project to adapt the video game license God of War, composed of nine parts (and in particular God of War: Ragnarök, released for PlayStation on November 9).

Initiated in 2005, the God of War saga follows the adventures of the Spartan general Kratos in ancient Greece, against a backdrop of war between the gods of Mount Olympus. Focused on action, the license began a new chapter in 2018, now situating its action in the Viking era and Norse mythology.

Screenwriters Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby (the first Iron Man) have been entrusted with the heavy task of transposing the universe of God of War into series, under the supervision of showrunner Rafe Judkins (The Wheel of Time).

After The Witcher (Netflix), and a few weeks before the event launch of The Last of Us on HBO Max, it seems that video game adaptations are meeting with unprecedented enthusiasm on streaming platforms…
