Not a day goes by without new, chilling details about Prince Andrew coming to light. Now his former maid is talking about her time with the prince.

Charlotte Briggs, 47, worked as maid to Prince Andrew, 61, for a few months in 1996 – a job that “nobody wanted”. During this time, the then 21-year-old experienced the prince as “demanding” and was often “moved to tears” by his indecent swear words, as revealed in an interview with the British newspaper “The Sun”.

Prince Andrew ‘acted like a spoiled brat’

Briggs recounts, among other things, an incident when she had to walk up an extra four flights just to close the curtains on the window Andrew was sitting next to. “Can’t you do anything right?” he is said to have shouted as she rushed up the stairs. “This man was fighting for his country in the Falkland Islands but couldn’t get up to close his own curtains,” the mother-of-two told the newspaper. “It was absolutely ridiculous but spoke volumes about him,” she adds. At the time, Prince Andrew was 36 and just divorced from Sarah Ferguson, now 62. He often freaked out and expected everything to be taken care of for him. “We made his bed, fixed his teddies, adjusted the curtains and laid out his pajamas. But he was a lazy apple and acted like a spoiled brat,” says Briggs.

Andrew’s brothers Prince Charles, 73, and Prince Edward, 57, are said to have treated her very differently. Charlotte Briggs describes the two princes as “wonderful”.

“It’s these little things that say a lot about people and their character”

The former maid also reports on an incident involving Prince Andrew’s dog. Charlotte Briggs was attacked by nine-year-old Norfolk terrier Bendicks, named after Fergie’s favorite chocolate, because he was startled by the noise of the vacuum cleaner. “My leg was bleeding and my tights were torn,” says Briggs today about the incident – but Andrew just laughed. “It didn’t bother him. Even when I was limping and my leg was purple, he didn’t apologize. It’s those little things that say a lot about people and their character,” notes the 47-year-old.

Imminent trial in the USA

Prince Andrew is currently dealing with serious abuse allegations. Virginia Giuffre, 38, accuses the royal of sexually abusing her multiple times when she was 17. The trial is scheduled to take place in the United States in the fall of this year. One reason why Queen Elizabeth, 95, stripped her former favorite son of all military titles and patronage and sent him to the process as a “private citizen”.
