The queen’s second son has been in the news more than ever since the accusation of sexual assault against him, and the recent dismissal of his military titles. A documentary called Ghislaine, Prince Andrew and the Pedophile is broadcast on the ITV network and, as the British Mirror newspaper observes on January 16, it’s full of lighter anecdotes about Prince Andrew. According to Elizabeth Day, a court writer, the Queen’s youngest son holds a “strangecollection of teddy bears at Buckingham Palace. Even as an adult, Prince Andrew could “shout, even scream” if ever her maids misplaced her fifty or so toys.
the Mirror also quotes Paul Page, a former court security officer, who reportedly worked there from 1998 to 2004. The employee describes an impressive range, “stacked on the prince’s bed, in his private chambers”, to which only certain employees, including him, had access. They even had to follow a particular arrangement, indicated in an image, itself secretly stored in a drawer… On pain of the Duke of York throwing a tantrum, even in his forties.
Prince Andrew will need his teddy bears
According to the British newspaper, Prince Andrew “was in tears” when the Queen told him she was stripping him of his military titles this week. This decision “was like a bomb”, and the successor to the throne was “completely devastated”, reported the Mirror. This dismissal follows the potential involvement of the Duke of York in the Epstein affair. Mired in this prostitution and sexual assault scandal for years, Prince Andrew has just failed to have the civil complaint dismissed.
