Prince Harry and his wife Duchess Meghan are said to have secured the film rights to a novel and are filming it for Netflix.
Is it the next step in their Netflix deal? As “The Sun” reports, Prince Harry (38) and Duchess Meghan (42) should now venture on a fiction project and produce the novel adaptation of “Meet Me At The Lake”. The couple is said to have secured the film rights to the book by Canadian author Carley Fortune for three million pounds (equivalent to around 3.5 million euros).
Parallels to your own life?
The novel, which according to “The Sun” sold 37,000 copies in the first week of its publication last May and landed on the New York Times bestseller list, is said to have certain parallels to Harry and Meghan’s life. The book covers topics such as childhood trauma from losing a parent in a car accident and mental health. On the one hand, there is the accidental death of Harry’s mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997), on the other hand, both have repeatedly spoken about their mental problems in the past.
The novel also takes place near Toronto, Canada, where Duchess Meghan used to live. A source told The Sun: “The couple were intrigued by the book’s themes and it was chosen for their first Netflix adaptation.” Another source explained that the film adaptation is their “biggest and most important task as producers” to date.
In June, the streaming service Spotify put an early end to the cooperation with the prominent couple. There were concerns in some places about what could happen to Harry and Meghan’s Netflix deal. However, the streaming service confirmed that projects by Archewell Productions, the Sussexes’ production company, are still planned after the documentary series “Harry & Meghan”.
“Heart of Invictus” will be released soon. The multi-part documentary series explores Harry’s Invictus Games, a Paralympic sporting event for war-disabled soldiers. According to “Page Six” he is supposed to also planning a Netflix documentary about Africa.
Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan have been living with their children Archie (4) and Lilibet (2) in the coastal town of Montecito, California, which is considered a celebrity hotspot, since June 2020.
