Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan had big plans after moving to the United States. In addition to various new projects, a podcast should also bring success, but it seems as if the Sussexes have taken it too far. Now the streaming giant steps in.

It started so promisingly: Duchess Meghan, 40, and Prince Harry, 37, are said to have received around 18 million pounds (equivalent to around 16 million euros) for their mega deal with the music streaming service Spotify. In return, a podcast series should actually be created. To date, however, only one episode of the Sussexes can be heard on the platform. Apparently that is about to change now.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan are under pressure

So it seems like the royal couple is starting to feel some pressure. After all, the publication of his first and so far only podcast episode under the name of her foundation “Archewell” was more than a year ago. In December 2020, Harry and Meghan invited prominent guests such as Sir Elton John, 74, and James Cordon, 43, to talk about their experiences during the lockdown. Even her son Archie, who was only one at the time, was heard at the end of the episode.

However, there has been radio silence on her channel since her “Holiday Special”. The two royal dropouts had hired Rebecca Sananes, an experienced podcast producer, in July last year and explained that they were looking forward to “sharing more content later in 2021”.

The streaming service hires producers

According to media reports, Spotify should now intervene and take the production into their own hands. A job advertisement for producers is said to have been placed to accompany “every step” of the process, writes the “Daily Mail”. A whole team is to be hired for the production in Los Angeles.

“We are currently assembling a team that will build and launch a new show with Archewell that will feature the voices of high-profile women,” The Sun said in a senior producer job ad for Gimlet Projects, a Spotify production company . The ideal candidate should bring “experience working with high-profile talent and an interest in the intersection of social activism and pop culture.”

Last Chance for the Archewell Podcast?

The contracts for the jobs are initially only set for six months. It remains to be seen whether this is another test phase or whether the format is not expected to last longer. After all, fans of the Sussexes can hopefully look forward to a few new podcast episodes.
