Prince Harry (38) seems to have a new project – he is said to be planning a Netflix documentary about Africa. As reported by Page Sixhe wants to travel to the continent soon – alone, without Duchess Meghan (41).

The subject of Africa is also important to Harry in his private life. In a speech to the United Nations in 2022, he described the continent as a place “where I have always found peace and healing.” Shortly before her death, his mother, Princess Diana (1961-1997), had traveled to Africa to fight against land mines. In 2019, like his mother, Prince Harry walked through a minefield in Angola wearing protective clothing. In his speech last year, he said: “This is where I felt closest to my mother and sought comfort after she passed away.” On top of that. On a joint trip to Botswana with Meghan, he also realized “that I had found a soul mate in my wife”.

A source told Page Six: “Harry obviously has many roots in Africa and feels at home there.” A Netflix insider is said to have also confirmed that the Africa idea was one of several ideas that the royals had discussed.

Sussexes are under pressure

What the documentary might be about is not yet known. Because of the strike in Hollywood, the plans are currently on hold, it is said. However, as Page Six also reports, the Sussexes would be under pressure to develop new content for Netflix after their contract with Spotify fell through.

Most recently, Meghan and Harry made headlines with the end of their Spotify deal. In mid-June it was announced that Meghan’s “Archetypes” podcast would not receive a second season. The Sussexes and Spotify announced this in a joint statement.

Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan retired as senior royals in 2020 and moved from England to Meghan’s native California. They then signed a multi-year deal with Netflix, among others. Rumor has it that the deal is said to be worth a total of £81m (about €95m).
