Prince Harry asks for police protection for his next visit to England and considers himself ready to take action against the government if he does not accede to his request.
Although freed for two years from his royal duties, Prince Harry stays center stage. If he currently resides in California with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, he continues to visit his family in Europe from time to time. the DailyMail reports that his lawyers have just sent the Department of the Interior a letter of a pre-action protocol, indicating that they will file an appeal in the event that the protection of the Sussexes is not reinforced during their next visit. If the action were to be brought, it would then oppose the government and Prince Harry in the High Court of Justice.
According to several sources, Elizabeth II would be aware of his grandson’s project. It is however the first time in history that a member of the Royal Family has brought a case against the Queen’s government. A source familiar with the matter explains Prince Harry’s motives: “His argument is that the law has been misinterpreted and he feels that taking away his protection is a bad thing. ” The case is this Sunday January 16 in the news because Harry made a statement explaining the reasons for his decision. He insisted that he would not have the taxpayer bear his security costs but that he would pay for them out of his own pocket.

Protection arranged on his role within the royal family
The idea of taking such action arose during Harry’s last trip to the Kingdom., in July 2021, where his police protection was removed. This was not the case during his previous visit. In April, during the funeral of his grandfather, Prince Philip, he had moved with his own security service but a team from Scotland Yard had welcomed him on his arrival in London. Last March, he already left burst his anger and amazement in the television interview given to Oprah Winfrey. He explained that when he had just moved to Canada he had been informed that his security service was going to be taken away from him: “Even if the risk or threat has not diminished, my protection was removed because we changed status and no longer work as working members of the royal family.“
