A new royal documentary claims that Princess Anne has been denied a partnership with Camilla’s ex Andrew Parker Bowles and that she has had “the trappings” of her “princess life”.

From King Charles, 74, to Princess Margaret, † 71: The unhappy loved ones of the British royals have often made waves in the media. Princess Anne, 72, is said to have not only had a hot affair with Camilla’s ex Andrew Parker Bowles, 83, in the 70s.

Her heart is said to have beat faster, but a partnership was deemed inappropriate by the British royal family. This and other juicy details have now been addressed in the ITV documentary series The Real Crown: Inside the House of Windsor.

Princess Anne: partnership with Camilla’s ex labeled as unsuitable?

The first episode “Love and Duty” of the five-part documentary series is about the love life of Charles, Anne and Co., which was subject to strict rules that made it difficult for them to choose a suitable partner. Just remember the drama about Princess Diana, † 36, and Camilla.

But a partnership between Anne and Andrew is said to have been met with criticism. According to the Daily Mail, while an excerpt of the conversation between the two is played in the documentary, it is explained at the same time that the couple was considered unsuitable because polo player Parker-Bowles was Catholic.

Anne ‘hated the trappings that come with being a princess’

That time was also characterized by hot party nights. Furniture designer and interior designer Nicky Haslam, 83, remembers one of the alleged affairs of Princess Margaret’s ex-husband Antony Armstrong-Jones, †86. He claimed so in his 2010 memoir, Redeeming Features. According to his own statement, the acquaintance of King Charles danced with Anne at a party in Belgium and was impressed by her charm.

“She has enormous sex appeal,” Haslam enthuses, but then reveals a piquant detail. Because Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter, † 96, is said to have said to him on the party night that she “hated the trappings that go with being a princess”. It remains to be seen whether this statement has anything to do with her allegedly unfulfilled love for Camilla’s ex.
