Princess Eugenie (33) was inspired by several relatives when choosing a name for her second son. A tribute to the family of her mother Sarah Ferguson (63) is also included. Ernest George Ronnie was born on May 30th. The princess gave birth a week later on her Instagram account announced.

He got his main name from a monarch

The 33-year-old announced two snaps of the newborn: “He is named after his great-great-great-grandfather George, his grandpa George and my grandpa Ronald.” The baby’s great-great-great-grandfather is King George V (1865-1936), grandfather of the late Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022). His middle name was Ernest.

Ronnie is reminiscent of Fergie’s father

The child of Eugenie’s father-in-law George Brooksbank, who died in November 2021 at the age of 72, has the middle name. And Ronnie pays homage to Eugenie’s mother, Fergie, as “The Mirror” reports. Her father’s name was Ronald Ferguson. The former royal polo manager died of his third heart attack in 2003. Fergie learned the sad news of his death on the way to Australia – during a stopover in Bangkok.

Ernest is 13th in line to the British throne. He is the third grandchild of Prince Andrew (63) and his ex-wife Fergie and the 13th great-grandchild of the late Queen. He is the first great-grandchild born since her death last September. The boy will not receive a title as he is not a grandchild of the current monarch King Charles III. (74) is.
