Russia has imposed entry bans on seven British people because of British sanctions in connection with the poison attack on Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny. The Russian Foreign Ministry announced that those affected were “closely involved in anti-Russian activities.” The move is a “reaction to the unkind acts of London” and is based on the “principle of reciprocity”.

In August, on the first anniversary of the poison attack, Great Britain imposed sanctions on seven employees of the Russian domestic intelligence service FSB. You are accused of planning or carrying out the act.

Navalny collapsed on August 20, 2020 on a flight from Tomsk in Siberia to Moscow. Two days later, the opposition politician was brought to Berlin Charité for treatment. Western states are convinced that Navalny was poisoned with a chemical nerve agent from the so-called Novichok group.

After receiving treatment in Germany, Navalny was arrested on his return to Russia in January and later sentenced to more than two years in a camp for alleged violations of probation conditions.
