Process as a test run – the first retention basin in Pinzgau becomes more concrete

After the mega flood in Oberpinzgau in 2021, the plans for a retention basin at the Leitenalm in Hollersbach are about to be assessed – a first in Salzburg.

1.4 million cubic meters of water are to be retained. Once the report is available, appropriate approval is requested. In the best case scenario, negotiations with the authorities will take place in 2024 and construction will start in the outer zone of the national park in 2025. This project also serves as a test run for other retention basins in Pinzgau such as in Mittersill, which has so far been able to hope for the first implementation for even better flood protection.
