Prohibited to under 17s? The good news that will delight fans of this vampire hero!

The “Blade” director finally gives encouraging news about his Marvel vampire film.

While The Marvels comes out in our theaters tomorrow, The House of Ideas finally gives encouraging news about Blade with Mahershala Ali.

In an interview with the site Deadline director Yann Demange, who took over the reins of the project centered on the vampire-hunting superhero after the sudden departure of Bassam Tariq, announced that he had received the green light from Marvel for Blade is classified R. An R (Restricted) classification means that minors aged 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

The Franco-Algerian filmmaker, to whom we owe ’71 and Undercover – A True Story, declares: “They gave me an R rating. This is very important. We’re going to have fun because Mahershala is an actor of great depth.

I can’t wait to show a kind of ruthlessness, a roughness that he has, and that allows him to have a unique style. I appreciate him for that. He is dignified and honest but has a fierceness that he usually keeps hidden within him, and I want to unleash that fierceness and bring it to the screen“.

The R rating will indeed allow the director to make Blade a real vampire film with combat sequences and blood. This is the second MCU film – after Deadpool 3 – to be entitled to this classification.

Announced several years ago, the feature film passed through the hands of two directors and five screenwriters therefore seems to be on the right track. The latest news is that the duo formed by Michael Starrbury (When They See Us) and Nic Pizzolatto (True Detective) are responsible for writing Blade.

No shooting date has yet been announced for this film led by Mahershala AliMia Goth, Delroy Lindo and Aaron Pierre, but Blade is already scheduled in our cinemas for February 14, 2025.
