Now that the Nintendo Direct has passed, the good old rumors may once again target the coming of a new State of Play. I have to say that sony has remained silent for months, even with the imminent arrival of its PlayStation VR2. Holding a State of Play in the coming weeks therefore seems to be quite logical, even if we are only interested in the rumor because it comes from Jeff Grubbwho had just indicated that a Nintendo Direct would take place this week (and he was right).
Sony is waiting
On his new show Game Mess Decides, the reporter was asked about the information he knows about a possible upcoming State of Play. Grubb replied that a State of Play is definitely on the way, and should happen within a month, maybe even a little sooner.which means around the end of February/beginning of March.
If the latter arrives next week, there will therefore be a good chance that it will highlight the PS VR2, unless Sony wants to, on the contrary, let the output of its helmet pass and then focus on PS5 games at come. At any rate, Grubb says this State of Play should be of fairly minimal importancewhich means that we should not expect big announcements.
Because according to him, Sony would save its cartridges for a PlayStation Showcase, which would take place before E3 2023, so before the month of June. Sony hasn’t held a PlayStation Showcase since late 2021, leaving the PlayStation community in a long wait. Except Final Fantasy XVI And Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 (not counting Marvel’s Wolverine), the horizon for the PS5 catalog is still a bit hazy, and Grubb says Sony has been holding back several announcements for a while now.

Knowing that Microsoft organized its own show at the beginning of the year and that Nintendo Direct is behind us, only Sony remains to tell us a little more about its year 2023.
