PS5: PlayStation wants to release 10 exclusive live service games within 4 years

Sony Interactive Entertainment is better known for its impactful single-player games than for its multiplayer products. But at the time of live-service and experiences that last over time, it will have to get up to speed, by offering in parallel scalable online experiences for the PS5, and perhaps even for the PS4.

He has already tried the experiment with Destruction AllStars (available from €10.09 on Amazon.co.uk), which did not work as well as expected. And he could set the table again with the project Twisted Metal at the heart of rumors for several months, even with the game The Last of Us in multiplayer, or even Gran Turismo 7 in a sense. On the occasion of its last financial statement, EIS bluntly confided thathe was developing 10 new games in live-service for a release before the end of March 2026, i.e. within 4 years. This does not necessarily mean that it will slow down the narrative experiences, but these could be accompanied by evolving online content, and especially that more multiplayer productions will be developed in parallel. Will the publisher rely on known licenses, or will he offer new franchises?

Anything is possible, but one thing is certain: CFO Hiroki Totoki wants its teams are inspired by and use the experience of the newly acquired Bungie on these future projects.

Our studios will learn from Bungie, it’s a strong wish to have Bungie on our side and be willing to work closely with us.

The future of the PlayStation 5 will therefore be partly with online games: good news for you?
