PSG: Christophe Galtier “does not comment” on Messi’s situation, the Argentine apologizes

Paris Saint-Germain coach Christophe Galtier, who spoke for the first time about the suspension of his Argentine superstar Lionel Messi, said on Friday “not to comment” on the “decision” of the club’s management.

“I was informed at the beginning of the week by my management of his decision to suspend Leo (Messi). Once I was informed of the decision, I took the decision not to comment on it. I am club employee, a decision has been made, I will not comment on it”, explained the Parisian coach during a press conference two days before the trip to Troyes (8:45 p.m.).

Galtier remains silent

The club opened disciplinary proceedings on Tuesday against its Argentine star, suspended several days after a trip to Saudi Arabia made without the agreement of his club. He does not train, play or get paid during this time.

According to several media, it will last two weeks, information that the club did not confirm to AFP. But Messi, 36 years old in June, whose departure from PSG is likely at the end of the season, will he play again after this suspension with the Parisian club?

“We will see when Leo comes back, we will see what will happen, obviously there will be discussions with the whole club, but also with Leo who is the first concerned”, replied Christophe Galtier, who did not wish to express themselves further on the subject. On Wednesday it was the supporters who expressed their dissatisfaction with the results and the situation of the club, in front of the headquarters of PSG and the home of Neymar.

Messi asks for forgiveness in story on Instagram

“Regarding the meeting outside a player’s home, you have to be careful about that and private life is private life. I can understand the anger, the disappointment of our supporters, the demonstration in front of the headquarters, our workplace, but I do not accept that we go to a player’s home because there can be overflows because our society has gone crazy,” reacted the coach.

“Will we see Neymar again next season? I’m already very ‘focused’ on our last five matches and we’ll see what happens next season,” kicked Galtier. During the rallies of supporters this week, the coach has also been targeted with insults, such as Messi, Neymar or Marco Verrati. “I’m exposed as a coach, I understand but I stay focused,” he continued.

For his part, Lionel Messi apologizes “to the club” and his “teammates” from PSG, in a story on Instagram this May 5, after his trip to Saudi Arabia and “awaits” a decision from PSG. “I sincerely thought that we were going to have a free day after the match, as was the case in the previous weeks”, explained in Spanish the player. “I had organized this trip and I could not cancel it, I had already canceled it before. I apologize to my teammates and I wait for what the club will decide. I apologize to my partners and at the club,” he added.

After their sixth defeat this season, PSG, still leaders and on the way to winning their 11th title, travels to Troyes on Sunday to try to get a break in this dark end to the season.
