Pumpkin in the oven: tips and recipes

Preparing pumpkin in the oven is not only quick, the result also tastes incredibly delicious. We explain how it works and present sophisticated recipes.

Pumpkin in the oven: step 1

Before you can bake the pumpkin in the oven, it must first washed thoroughly and the stem separated. If you are not using a Hokkaido pumpkin, such as a gorgonzola pumpkin, butternut or nutmeg pumpkin, you will also need it peel. We show you how this works in this video:

Then you cut the pumpkin in half and scratch it the inner pulp and the stones with a spoon. The pumpkin seeds are very easy to roast, so you should save them.

Now you cut the pumpkin in two to three centimeters thick crevices and mix them in a bowl with a little olive oil, salt and pepper. Depending on your taste, you can add other spices, especially Rosemary, paprika powder, thyme, cinnamon or garlic taste very tasty in combination with the pumpkin. You can also use the marinade to intensify the taste let it soak in overnight.

Then the pumpkin is placed in the oven on a baking sheet with baking paper and at 175 degrees (convection) for about 30 minutescooked. Halfway through the process, you should turn the pumpkin wedges.

Tip: You can still do this 10 minutes before the end of the cooking time Feta, walnuts or sesame sprinkle over the pumpkin and something honey trickle over it. It goes well with fresh salad, herb quark or crème fraîche. Or you can puree the pumpkin and use it as a spread for a pumpkin toast.
