QatarEnergy joins TotalEnergies and Eni on two exploration blocks in Lebanon – 01/30/2023 at 09:00

(AOF) РTotalEnergies and Eni have finalized the transfer to QatarEnergy of a 30% stake in exploration blocks 4 and 9 off the coast of Lebanon. The agreements were ratified on January 29 in Beirut, during a ceremony in the presence of His Excellency Walid Fayad, Minister of Energy and Water of Lebanon, His Excellency Saad Sherida Al-Kaabi, Minister of State for Energy Affairs in Qatar and Chairman and CEO of QatarEnergy, Patrick Pouyanné, Chairman and CEO of TotalEnergies, and Claudio Descalzi, Chairman and CEO.

Under these agreements, TotalEnergies (operator) and Eni will each retain a 35% stake, and QatarEnergy will hold the remaining 30%.

“We are delighted to welcome QatarEnergy to our exploration area in Lebanon. The recent demarcation of Lebanon’s maritime border with Israel gives new impetus to the exploration of the country’s hydrocarbon potential. Our partners and we- We are also determined to carry out, as soon as possible in 2023, the drilling of an exploration well on Block 9, and our teams are fully mobilized to carry out these operations”, declared Patrick Pouyann√©, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TotalEnergies.

This new partnership expands the collaboration between TotalEnergies and QatarEnergy in the field of exploration and brings to nine the number of countries in which the two companies are partners.
