(Boursier.com) — quadient presented, on February 7, a new feature for its Parcel Pending by Quadient smart lockers, the Drop Box. It allows consumers to easily drop off their return parcels and print shipping labels if needed.

Thanks to the modular concept developed by Quadient, the Drop Box and its printer come in the form of a unit that can be added to new or existing lockers. This module allows consumers to deposit parcels directly into a dedicated compartment, by simply scanning a barcode label, which maximizes the number of parcels retrieved while minimizing the physical footprint of the deposit. Users also have the option of printing standard shipping labels directly from the built-in printer. Quadient’s cloud monitoring technology records every step of the process and allows carriers to know the status of packages at all times.

While this new solution has just been launched in the UK, Evri, one of the largest parcel operators in the country, is the first carrier to offer Drop Box and printer functionality to its customers.

Quadient’s Drop Box and printer functionality will soon be available to merchants and carriers in other countries in Europe and North America.
