Quantic Dream could soon be acquired by the Chinese giant NetEase according to Tom Henderson

While his studios are currently working on three new projects including star wars eclipse which should not be released before 2026-2027, in particular due to recruitment problems which could be partly linked to the various pans that the company has been dragging on for several years, Quantic Dream is on the verge of being fully acquired by NetEase Games. Information still at the rumor stage to be taken with enormous tweezers.

An official announcement planned for this summer?

As insider Tom Henderson reports via the Exputer site, several “sources”, a priori familiar with the case, claim that the French company is seeking to be bought out. “since the end of his collaboration with Sony”which would contradict old comments by David Cage which seemed to indicate a desire to remain independent in the future.

After having approached various companies in recent years, notably selling a certain “Project Karma”, a space exploration game, as its future flagship title, it would finally be the presentation of star wars eclipse during the Game Awards 2021 ceremony which would have convinced NetEase Games, a Chinese giant owning minority shares in the tricolor firm since 2019, to agree to negotiate for a total acquisition.

Still according to these same “sources”, an official announcement could be made next summer provided that the discussions between the two parties are fruitful because, although the discussions between them last ” for months “the agreement would not yet be 100% finalized.

Also note that this potential future partnership would be similar to the one between NetEase Games and Grasshopper Manufacture (Killer7, No More Heroes, Lollipop Chainsaw), the acquisition of which has been effective since the end of 2021. In other words, the Asian company would simply provide Quantic Dream with the necessary resources in order to “bringing Star Wars Eclipse to life. »

Let us recall again that the information shared by Tom Henderson is not official and that, during his last speech made earlier this month, the French video game developer refuted the insider’s allegations concerning his difficulties in recruit new talent to its teams. Case to follow.
