Queen Camilla not only has several of her own, but also five step-grandchildren. She is said to be very close to Prince William and Catherine’s kids, but she has a special connection to a mini-royal in particular.
Queen Camillas, 75, children Tom Parker Bowles, 48, Laura Lopes, 45, who come from her former marriage to Andrew Parker Bowles, 83, have long had children themselves. Tom is father to Lola, 15, and Freddy, 13, Laura is mother to Eliza, 15, and twins Louis and Gus, 13. However, a body language expert now notes that Camilla has a particularly close relationship with a step-grandchild.

Since Prince Harry, 38, and Duchess Meghan, 41, live in the United States, Camilla has little chance of really getting to know their children, Prince Archie, 4, and Princess Lilibet, 2. However, her connection to Williams Kids is all the stronger, emphasizes Judi James to “Express”. “The relationship between Camilla and William and Kate’s children has been described as warm. Camilla often appears tense and “awkward” during official appearances, but a mini-royal is always by her side, says James: “There’s one of her royal grandchildren that Camilla seems to connect with on most public appearances, and this is the fairly confident and protocol-conscious Charlotte.”

The exemplary behavior and self-confidence of the Wales daughter is a great help for Camilla. Charlotte manages to “break the ice without being remotely cheeky.” This in turn has a relaxing effect on the 75-year-old. “Unlike Louis, Charlotte isn’t keen on entertaining her grandmother or making her laugh, but she does bring an air of natural affection or curiosity that evokes a mirror-image reaction from Camilla,” explains the expert.

There are always moments that show how comfortable Camilla and Charlotte are with each other. When Camilla, on the occasion of the celebrations of Queen Elizabeth, † 96, shared a carriage with Catherine and her children last year on the throne anniversary, there was a cute scene: Charlotte sat up and stole a look in her step-grandmother’s handbag. It was one of those moments of real intimacy.
