A cousin of the Queen is said to have molested a woman in 2020. Simon Bowes-Lyon should now face up to five years in jail.

After the ongoing controversy over Prince Andrew (60), the British royal family has another scandal. As reported by "The Sun", among others, Simon Bowes-Lyon (34), a distant cousin of Queen Elizabeth II (94), is threatened with jail. Bowes-Lyon is said to have sexually harassed and coerced a woman during an event at Glamis Castle in Scotland in February of last year. While the woman was sleeping, he broke into her room, pressed her against a wall, tried to pull up her nightgown and repeatedly touched her immorally.

The attack is said to have lasted over 20 minutes before Bowes-Lyon let go of his victim and left the room. On Tuesday (January 12), Bowes-Lyon admitted his act, according to the report before the Dundee Crown Court. He was then released on bail and entered into the sex offender registry. He allegedly faces up to five years in prison for the sexual assault.

Elizabeth Bowes-Lyon (1900-2002), mother of Queen Elizabeth II, grew up at Glamis Castle, where the incident took place. Simon Bowes-Lyon is the great-grandson of Queen Mum's brother Michael Bowes-Lyon (1893-1953).
