- Quentin Tarantino will make a tenth feature film before retiring.
- Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen is now expressing interest in joining Tarantino’s final film.
- The film is entitled “The Movie Critic”. Rumor has it that the movie is set in 1970s Hollywood and is about a film critic.
Filming on Quentin Tarantino’s latest film, The Movie Critic, is slated to begin this fall. Of course, he wrote the screenplay himself. The star director has not yet announced the cast, which is where Marvel star Elizabeth Olsen comes into play.
In a longer interview, the “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness” star talks about her new series “Love & Death”. Other topics are also touched upon, including their wishes for future projects. She names a few directors she would like to work with.
Besides Ari Aster (“Midsommar”) and Ruben Östlund (“Triangle of Sadness”), the name Quentin Tarantino also comes up: “I would love to work with Tarantino before he retires with his last film.”
Olsen is best known for her movies from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but since Doctor Strange 2 she’s been a little more free and dedicated to other projects. So it wouldn’t be impossible for Tarantino to bring her on board for his latest film.
Especially through films like “Martha Marcy May Marlene” and “Wind River”, Olsen was able to prove that she can also play complex characters that have nothing to do with Marvel’s superhero roles.
It’s unclear what Tarantino’s final film will be about. The title suggests that the film is about a film critic. Fans speculate if the main character was inspired by actual film critic Pauline Kael. In this case, the film would be set in 1970s Hollywood.
We will surely learn more about Tarantino’s last film soon and also about Elizabeth Olsen’s career plans. “Love & Death”, Olsen’s new series, has already started in the USA on HBO Max. In this country we are still waiting for a release.
