The least Quentin Tarantino film well rated by AlloCiné internet users will soon leave the Netflix catalog!
Many filmmakers would dream that their least well-rated film by AlloCiné internet users would display an average of 3.6/5. This is in any case the privilege reserved for Quentin Tarantino, whose film least appreciated by AlloCiné Internet users is (drum roll)… Boulevard of Death!
Released on our screens in 2007, shortly after its preview presentation at the Cannes Film Festival, Boulevard of Death is the fifth feature film directed by QT (who considers his Kill Bill diptych as a single film).
This homage to the B and Z series of the 70s features Kurt Russell in the shoes of a serial killer executing his victims at the wheel of his Chevrolet Nova. This vehicle designed to withstand filming stunts in the cinema offers its driver the luxury of being considered “death proof”.

Two different edits for the same film
The version of the film discovered by the French public at the cinema was not the one desired by Quentin Tarantino. Boulevard of Death was originally conceived as a feature film in two parts, co-directed with Robert Rodriguez (author of the zombie film Planet Terror).
False trailers designed by guest directors (Edgar Wright, Rob Zombie, Eli Roth) were inserted in the middle of the screening to mark the separation of the two films, and thus pay homage to the double-bill Grindhouse screenings of American cinemas in the seventies.
With the exception of a few exceptional screenings, this version of the film has unfortunately never been shown in French cinemas. It is therefore in a version extended with additional scenes (including the memorable lap dance sequence), but deprived of the content produced by the other filmmakers, that Boulevard of Death came to us.

As soon as it was released, this Tarantino, considered too talkative, was not unanimously accepted by the filmmaker’s fans. And if the years have nevertheless allowed the film to be somewhat rehabilitated by moviegoers, it does not seem surprising to see it still today considered the least appreciated among all his films.
Several works in QT’s filmography appear to be less well rated than Boulevard of Death. Notably Groom Service (film divided into four sketches, only one of which is directed by Tarantino), My Best Friend’s Birthday (his first unfinished and unpublished film) or even his episodes produced for the series Urgences and Les Experts.
Boulevard of Death, directed by Quentin Tarantino, will no longer be available on Netflix from October 31.
