He’s one of the favorite cartoon heroes of the 80s! The inimitable Inspector Gadget, his numerous accessories and his legendary theme song, left their mark on a whole generation of children. Do you still remember this cult cartoon well?
In the age of social networks and everything digital, where almost everything is accessible without constraints of time or space, it is difficult to imagine that forty years ago, to watch an entire episode of Inspector Gadget, children from the early 80s had to demonstrate a patience unimaginable today, when each episode, lasting twenty-five minutes, was split into five segments, each of which was distilled throughout the week from Monday to Friday at 7:50 p.m.
This did not prevent the American-French-Japanese-Canadian cartoon from being very successful at the time to the point of still being very popular today, with a credits whose famous melody is still known by many generations.
Inspector Gadget is therefore, as his name suggests, an inspector, equipped with numerous gadgets, which he uses as best he can, one of the other characteristics of this character being his clumsiness and his incompetence in carrying out his investigations.
Fortunately to support him in his adventures, and help him track down the evil Doctor Gang, he can count on the precious help of Sophie, who accompanies him in each episode and of her clever dog, whose name we will not reveal here, since this will be the subject of one of the quiz questions below.
Building on its success, the cartoon will be entitled to two big screen adaptations, both produced by Disney. The first film released in 1999 was directed by David Kellogg with Matthew Broderick in the lead role, the second in 2003, directed by Alex Zamm with French Stewart playing the famous bungling Inspector.
