The Rambo saga began in 1983 in France with the first feature film, titled in the original version First Blood. The story is rather dramatic and not at all about the glorification of war as John Rambo, a veteran returning from Vietnam, is traumatized by the horrors he experienced there and wishes to lead a peaceful life. Except that a local sheriff will decide otherwise…

From the second part on the other hand, Rambo is given a mission: to find evidence of the presence of American prisoners still detained in Vietnam. Except that as long as he is there, Rambo decides to free them and not just to do the intelligence mission that he had been entrusted with.

Rambo III is obviously the silliest of the saga, with a fairly incredible number of cult lines per minute and situations all more ridiculous than each other. This time, the veteran goes to Afghanistan and loads a military helicopter with a horse and a molotov cocktail.

John Rambo is much more moderate and returns to the sources of the character by offering a brutal and melancholy war film in the thematic line of Rocky Balboa. Then came Rambo: Last Blood, final chapter of the soldier’s adventures, disappointing and quite boring despite its short duration.
