QUIZ Would you do this CM2 level dictation flawlessly? Test your knowledge! : Current Woman Le MAG

Dictation may be one of your worst school memories. And for good reason ! This exercise is the bane of many French people due to the subtleties of Molière’s language, whose conjugation, grammar and spelling compete with difficulty. To test your knowledge, Current wife invites you to try out this dictation offered every year to CM2 students by National Education. Presented in the form of a quiz, it is divided into ten propositions in which several errors have crept in. You will have to conjugate verbs in the imperfect tense, make numbers plural or not, conjugate pronominal verbs, but also correctly spell well-known French expressions, such as “as soon as said, as soon as done”. Because the French know it, the French language is full of traps. And if primary school students are supposed to know all the rules, the most complicated and the most eccentric, but also their exceptions, they are quickly forgotten once studies are over. The French can test their knowledge regularly

There is only one solution to make fewer mistakes: to practice. Current wife regularly offers you exercises for this purpose, such as the Orsay dictation, the dictation of the certificate of primary studies of 1912 in its new podcast Dictation! (listen at the top of this article). But watch out for the pitfalls. Lovers of the French language will tell you: nothing is more difficult than impeccable spelling. And yet, they care about the subtleties of the language. As proof, every year the dictation of Tours brought together around a hundred people who came to test their abilities. Several possibilities to register, either by asking your city to participate, or as a free candidate. You will then be able to compete in one of the following categories: juniors, cadets, juniors, senior amateurs or confirmed. The last category is reserved for professionals who have exercised or are exercising a profession related to the French language, such as literature and French teachers, journalists, translators and even proofreaders. At the end, the lucky winners are awarded a ranking.
