Rail is going abroad again – new ICE connects Berlin and Graz directly

Together with the European partner railways, Deutsche Bahn (DB) is gradually increasing the range of cross-border connections again, as Deutsche Bahn announced. "We will resume international long-distance transport to all countries by the end of June," says long-distance transport chief Michael Peterson. From now on, a new direct long-distance connection from Berlin via Dresden and Prague to Graz will be added.

These are the most important changes for rail customers:

Switzerland: All ICE connections run again without restrictions to Zurich, Chur and Interlaken. Since the 8th / 9th In June, three pairs of Eurocity trains (there and back) run between Munich, Lindau and Zurich. New: From today on, the new ICE 4 will also be in operation between Berlin and Interlaken. This means that all ICE travelers to Switzerland will benefit from the comfort of the new long-distance flagship with more seats from next week. At the same time, it is now possible for the first time to take bicycles on all ICE connections to Switzerland.

New ICE connection from Berlin to Innsbruck

Austria / Italy: All trains to Salzburg, Linz, Vienna, Klagenfurt and Graz are already operating regularly again. Starting tomorrow, three pairs of Eurocity trains will also be offered from Munich via Jenbach (am Zillertal) to Innsbruck. From June 25th these will then continue to / from Italy.
New from June 27th: A ICE from Berlin to Innsbruck always brings passengers directly to the mountains on Saturday morning. For the return trip, the ICE in Innsbruck always starts at 3:27 p.m. The ICE makes interim stops in Erfurt, Nuremberg, Munich and Rosenheim.

Czech Republic: As of today, the Prague-Dresden-Berlin-Hamburg connection will again be largely every two hours. A new one is added Direct connection Berlin – Dresden – Prague – Vienna – Graz. The Railjet in cooperation with the Czech Railways (CD) and the Austrian Federal Railways (ÖBB) offers ICE comfort and runs from June 16. The new train not only extends the offer to the Czech Republic, but also between Berlin and Vienna. Both cities are already connected by an ICE via Nuremberg and Passau.

Connections between Frankfurt and Paris

France: Another pair of TGV trains has been running between Frankfurt and Paris on ICE since June 8th. Further trains on this connection and between Stuttgart / Karlsruhe and Paris are planned from July 4th.

Belgium: Four pairs of trains have been available on the Frankfurt – Cologne – Aachen – Liège – Brussels axis since June 1. From June 27, the offer will be gradually increased to the regular 2-hour cycle, the train said.

Netherlands: Rail customers with destinations in the Netherlands have again benefited from the full two-hour offer between Frankfurt, Cologne, Düsseldorf, Utrecht and Amsterdam as well as between Berlin, Hanover, Osnabrück and Amsterdam.

Denmark: There are currently two pairs of trains running between Hamburg and Copenhagen. From June 20, all trains on the connection should roll again. Since June 8th, the entire offer has been operated between Hamburg and Aarhus.

Poland: From June 22, two pairs of Eurocity trains will once again run from Berlin via Frankfurt (Oder) and Poznan to Warsaw. According to the railway, further connections are planned from June 26th.
