“Raise awareness” – more HIV-infected people in Styria again

There are 39 million people living with HIV worldwide, 9,000 in Austria and 1,000 in Styria – with around 50 new diagnoses occurring every year. “This means that on average we still find one person per week who is diagnosed with an HIV infection for the first time,” points out Manfred Rupp, managing director of Aids-Hilfe Steiermark. “The biggest problem remains late diagnoses, which are more common in rural areas.”
