Rebel Moon on Netflix: this actor played a DC superhero and you probably didn’t recognize him

Before playing one of the leaders of the resistance in Rebel Moon (watch on Netflix), this actor played one of the members of the Justice League at DC.

Those who know him from Justice League will probably recognize Ray Fisher in the cast of Rebel Moon, available for less than a week on Netflix. This space opera directed by Zack Snyder takes us to a distant galaxy where a small colony rebels against the regent Balisarius and his army.

In the first part, Sofia Boutella crosses the galaxy to recruit brave soldiers to fight alongside her. His path will make him cross paths with a certain Darrian Bloodaxe, portrayed on screen by Fisher. The actor is unrecognizable with his long hair and makeup. His character plays a decisive role during the final fight, sacrificing himself to eliminate as many enemies as possible.

Unless there is a huge surprise, Ray Fisher should not return in part 2 of Rebel Moon expected on April 19 on Netflix. A rather damaging choice when we know that the American actor has difficulty finding work in Hollywood, especially after denouncing the actions of a certain Joss Whedon. But to understand this, we have to go back in time a littleā€¦

An actor who takes a stand

In 2016, Ray Fisher was offered a small role by the producers of Batman V Superman, that of Cyborg, a half-man, half-robot superhero, who does not really accept his condition. He will subsequently return in Justice League, which brings together on screen all the DC heroes: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash and him.

On the set, nothing goes as planned. Snyder leaves the production for personal reasons and is replaced by Whedon. Fisher quickly alerted public opinion to the latter’s abusive behavior. Internally, it’s chaos. An investigation is launched, the actor notably accuses the CEO of Warner, as well as one of the DC managers of racism.

If Fisher was supported by part of the team including Gal Gadot as well as other people who worked with Joss Whedon, his position was very frowned upon by some. The man has since cut all ties with Warner studios and is rare on television and in the cinema.

That leaves Snyder, who continues to collaborate with him by offering him a role in Rebel Moon. But did he deserve to die like this, without really proving himself? The answer is no.
