Renata Lusin suffered three miscarriages within a year. In an interview, the dancer now talks about the “bad time”.

“Let’s Dance” star Renata Lusin, 35, suffered three miscarriages within a year. Most recently, she confirmed to RTL in early March that she had lost another baby. “A bad time,” says the professional dancer in an interview with the “Bild” newspaper about this painful experience and reveals that she went on stage with “the dead baby in her stomach”.

“Let’s Dance” professional Renata Lusin was “somehow embarrassing” miscarriage

The 35-year-old and her husband Valentin Lusin, 36, also a dancer on “Let’s Dance”, had announced the pregnancy earlier than they would have liked. The couple wanted to explain why Lusin had canceled her participation in the new season of the RTL dance show. Her doctor had forbidden her to dance. “Normally I wouldn’t have told anyone about it at such an early stage – it was the sixth or seventh week – but I didn’t want to lie under any circumstances,” says Renata Lusin.

Particularly painful: Shortly after the pregnancy was announced, Lusin suffered a miscarriage. Before she finally made it public in March, she continued to receive congratulations and questions about her stomach: “After we already knew that the embryo had passed.” That’s why her miscarriage was “kinda embarrassing”.

Little time for mourning

“A wrong feeling, I know,” Lusin clarifies. “But this compassion that was shown to me made me uncomfortable. I always want to be strong and not to be regretted. That felt wrong to me, I don’t want to be a victim. Miscarriage happened, I was sad and loose – now keep going,” she says.

Despite all the bad news, Renata Lusin tried to stay strong. After the miscarriage, she allowed herself just one day to be sad and shed tears. “My body is probably protecting me from feelings that are too dark,” she muses.

Renata danced with “the dead baby in her stomach”

After her miscarriage in October 2022, she went straight back onto the floor – a particularly painful experience for Lusin. She learned on a Thursday that the fetus was no longer alive.

Then on Saturday, with the dead baby in my stomach, I danced at a show. With autographs, smiles and everything. We were just booked, didn’t want to disappoint anyone. The excavation was on Monday at 8 a.m.

At that time she was already in the 13th week of pregnancy. “I saw the heartbeat on the ultrasound, the little arms and legs moved.” During an examination, the doctor then explained that the heart was no longer beating. “The child just stopped developing and eventually died. That was really difficult.”
