While PSG travels to Rennes this Sunday evening for the 8th day of Ligue 1, the atmosphere is not good in the Parisian club. And like his team, Kylian Mbappé is experiencing a slump. How to explain the decline in performance of PSG’s flagship player?

This Sunday evening, Paris Saint-Germain travels to Rennes. Kick-off will be at 8:45 p.m. The Parisians, in poor shape, will try to get back on track. They remain in a pitiful draw at Clermont (0-0) and above all a humiliating defeat at Newcastle (4-1) last Wednesday. And like his team, Kylian Mbappé is experiencing a real downturn.

Disruptive start to the season

The PSG star has not scored for three games. Last Wednesday in Newcastle, Mbappé had the worst match since his arrival in Paris six years ago. One shot and only four balls hit in the area. Since his ankle injury which forced him to give up his place during the match against OM, Kylian Mbappé has been in decline. Added to this is the lack of direction in a workforce turned upside down after the departures of Neymar, Messi and Verratti, and the arrivals of Kolo Muani, Dembele and Ugarte. Without forgetting a new coach, therefore a new tactic.

But for coach Didier Deschamps, this slump is only temporary. “He is obviously not in the best of form, certainly like his club’s results. Afterwards, I have no concerns about Kylian, I know him well enough to know that he cannot not be satisfied with what he does,” declared the coach of the France team.

The player’s entourage is not worried. “It’s a blow, but nothing serious,” explain those close to the PSG star. And this even happens to the greatest players, the Parisian striker displays quite honorable statistics with a total of eight goals scored compared to nine at the same period last season. It’s up to Kylian Mbappé to wake up and sound the revolt at PSG.
