The end of health restrictions? This Thursday, January 20, Jean Castex and Olivier Véran organized a new press conference to specify the schedule for the relief of the various measures, discussed in the morning in the Health Defense Council. First, the entry into force of the vaccination pass, which will replace the health pass from Monday January 24 for French people over 16 years old. The French will have to prove a complete and up-to-date vaccination status to access leisure activities, restaurants, bars, sports halls, swimming pools, fairs or interregional public transport. The simple test will therefore no longer be sufficient. In contrast, it will not be necessary for access to hospitals, clinics, accommodation establishments for dependent elderly people and retirement homes.
“The pass could very well be suspended if the epidemic and especially hospital pressure were to be reduced sharply and durably. If our intensive care units no longer saw new patients arriving for several weeks, if our hospitals were no longer obliged to deprogram care, if the health pressure drops to the lowest”, added Jean Castex. The other date to remember: February 2. On that day, the gauges to which establishments open to the public are subject, 2,000 indoors and 5,000 outdoors, will be canceled. The use of teleworking in companies will no longer be compulsory but “will remain recommended leaving it up to companies to maintain the right level”, as announced by Jean Castex. Two weeks later, on February 16, further relief will come into effect.
Towards a relaxation of the health protocol?
That day, nightclubs will have the right to welcome the public again. In concerts, spectators will again be able to stand. Like in bars or transport. In addition, Jean Castex indicated that, to promote the vaccination of 5-11 year olds, “more places or professionals” can vaccinate them. On children, the Prime Minister “consider” a reduction in the health protocol for schools on the return from the February holidays, on March 7 for the last zone. “We will be able to consider, when we return from the February school holidays, a relaxation of the protocol” health in schools, in terms of wearing a mask or the tests to be carried out, he announced. France currently has 17,037 closed classes, against 14,380 on Friday January 14, added the head of government.
