Rescue helicopter operation – worker (56) was hit by a broken asphalt

On August 25, around 10 a.m., a 56-year-old and a 35-year-old, both from the Braunau district, intended to lift a sheet steel container filled with asphalt from a flatbed truck with the help of a wheel bearing. After the container was secured with a steel chain, they lifted it from the wagon with the wheel bearing.

The sheet steel container turned and tilted forward. Part of the asphalt fell directly onto the 56-year-old standing next door. The 35-year-old immediately notified the emergency services and looked after the injured person until they arrived. With injuries of indeterminate degree, he was flown to the Salzburg accident hospital with the rescue helicopter “Christophorus 6”.
